Central Valley Guided Pathways

The California Community Colleges Guided Pathways is a multi-year state program designed to provide all California Community Colleges with the opportunity to implement Guided Pathways for the purpose of significantly improving student outcomes.

Guided Pathways is not a new program or initiative but is rather a planning framework for colleges to bring together and scale effective programs, services, and activities that currently exist into structures that include all students. Guided Pathways requires a whole-college transformational reform, which entails a breaking-down of silos and more dynamic collaboration between faculty, administrators, and staff. The Guided Pathways framework will help colleges to integrate the best aspects of all the initiatives into cohesive strategies that help more students get to and through college.

CVHEC works collaboratively with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to facilitate the regional effort.  To support work taking place on campuses, CVHEC has implemented its Mini-Grant effort. These grants were used to:

-Hold college forums on Guided Pathways

-Travel on Guided Pathways tours and Achieving the Dream sessions

-Video capturing of student voices on Guided Pathways efforts

-Participation in the RP Group’s Leading from the Middle

-Professional development for student services personnel regarding the redesign of student services for Guided Pathways

-Supported an equity conference open to regional college student services personnel, faculty and administrators

CVHEC supports colleges through mini-grant funding, regional professional development, and other resource-sharing opportunities.
