Student Ready Instruction: Embracing a Holistic Approach to Instructional Transformation
Cuyamaca College’s Model
May 19, 2020
2:30 – 3:00 pm

We will discuss how departmental leaders (Department Chairs, AB 705 leaders, and other champions) can best support their faculty colleagues through changes in this AB 705 (virtual) world. Cuyamaca's holistic approach included changing placement, creating corequisite support courses, and making classroom andragogy more student-centered. Coupled with a pipeline redesign and a belief in student capacity, Cuyamaca was able to dramatically improve student outcomes and begin to close equity gaps.

Professional Development: The Community of Practice in a Virtual World
Cuyamaca College’s Model
May 26, 2020
1:30 – 2:00 pm

As our classrooms change and colleges focus on becoming more student-ready, professional development for faculty is imperative. The Community of Practice (COP) is one of the most powerful tools Cuyamaca College has used to support their faculty in our transformation. We will discuss how you can incorporate a COP in your department and why it is even more important in this new virtual world.
