California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI)

What is the College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) or College Next?

College Next is the campaign name given to the regional partnership creating a Central Valley effort to promote participation in the California College Guidance Initiative portal allowing inter-segmental academic data sharing. The Central Valley is poised to lead the state in this effort.

The initiative, sponsored by the chancellors’ offices of the California Community Colleges and California State University, makes the data-sharing functionality and postsecondary planning tools of the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) free to Central Valley K-12 school districts (Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne counties) through the 2021-2022 academic year.

College Next supports the adoption of CCGI to ensure that Central Valley students’ academic transcript data follows them as they advance from K-12 to a community college or CSU. CCGI also helps students graduate with clear postsecondary goals and a plan for how to achieve them.

CVHEC works in collaboration with CCGI staff in facilitating partnerships between CCGI and CVHEC-member community colleges and K-12 districts.
